Privacy & Anonymity Policy

Your psychological safety is our highest priority. At YANA, we maintain a strict Zero-Sensitive-Data policy to ensure you can seek support without fear of exposure.

The Zero-Sensitive-Data Policy

Unlike clinical institutions, YANA does not maintain permanent medical records. We are a peer support community, and our data practices reflect that.

What We Collect

  • •A preferred display name or alias.
  • •Contact method (e.g., WhatsApp number) strictly for scheduling.
  • •Broad thematic topics (e.g., "academic stress") for matching you with the right peer.

What We NEVER Collect

  • •National identity card (NIC) numbers or passports.
  • •Clinical psychiatric records or medical history.
  • •Physical residential addresses.

Anonymity in Practice

We empower you to control how you are perceived within the YANA community.

1-on-1 Sessions

During 1-on-1 WhatsApp or Zoom sessions, you are entirely free to use a pseudonym and keep your camera off. Our peer listeners are trained to build trust through voice and text, without demanding visual confirmation.

Group Circles

In guided circles and WhatsApp communities, members are asked to respect the "Chatham House Rule"—what is said in the group stays in the group. You can participate using only your first name or an alias.
